Continued…

Nice people everywhere in Mariote, and boy can they cook. Nicest variation of pasta I’ve ever had. And if you didn’t realise I had guests, hence this post is split in two.

So continuing from the previous post (Yes you can click on previous. Gee, I’m really showing my computer illiterateness) the postponement of the amusement park was reportedly postponed due to a high amount of threatening letters the governor received. The governor apparently had no idea about this project, and its turning out that with significant evidence the head of the council would be receiving a large sum of cash privately for the construction of. The Police are looking into the matter and the amusement park will be indefinitely postponed until a later date.

I forgot to mention how much of a pain readers can be! But some can and do bring up interesting points of view.

“I for one want the amusement park! Why not just cage all the animals and that way i can ride a roller coaster and see some wildlife all in one day? And i don’t have to wait around to see all those bloody animals come out”.

Princess Leia

Yep, you can tell she is not a local. Mariote is not a playground. Kids don’t visit here for a vacation, adults really only tour here for their honeymoons and anniversaries. Weddings are a common occurrence and so are those peaceful vacations. You may think, then why all the tourists? I may have forgotten to illiterate on it. It was actually workers such as construction mostly. And some big names CEOs that nobody has heard of inspecting its possibilities. But also a few tourist centres had started to promote the town due to signs of an amusement park. So there you have it.

As with the wildlife, you don’t need to get close the park to realise its jam packed with birds. I think the park has off by memory 6 species of birds which are native just to this area and a further 28 species that are native to the country. It also has a bunch of small sized animals. Don’t know the numbers on that, and the Marlonette Lake which is home to a few thousand fish.

That’ll be all from me tonight. And I have the pictures of the before and now shots of this town ready to be included in the next post. Until then, Cheers.

Replies and More!

Yes smarty pants, it’s been less than a week but some important events have unfolded, and so I also thought I should try to answer the most common comments as I have some free time.

Many people have told me (Not locals, Bloggers alike) that an amusement park would have a financial increase on Mariote. Well Da’h! But that’s beside the point most people here don’t want to be entrepreneurs, they just want to earn enough money to feed themselves and have a little luxury. And Mariote is a peaceful place covered with trees, fauna and wildlife. That is the reason its residents are here. That is the reason I’m here. Besides, deforestation is a big problem. Don’t bring it here. Oh and last thing on the matter, don’t tell anyone but I have heard some rumours that the Mariote-ians are going to rally. Sign me up!

Well I better give you some information about why is this blog actually here? I’ve been given some grief on this. Basically the reason I left Michigan is because it is becoming too industrialised. And at an ageing age like mine, fumes don’t exactly improve your health. Also Michigan was become too much of a concrete jungle. And I don’t enjoy the place like I used to. But Landscape Architects do get paid well, Very well. Hence i’m here with no job.

Least the tourists seem to be dying down. And the park proposal has been postponed.

More on that latter though. I have visitors, got to run.

Amusing, No?

It happened! I’m blogging exactly one week later, of course I’m not taking into account the hours or minutes. But woo!

Anyway, back to the real story. I can’t believe how selfish this council is. I am disgusted at their latest idea. They want to build an amusement park by destroying Establishment Park! Mind you it is by far the oldest and most historic element of this town, probably even the region. But the worst thing is that I have not found a single soul that doesn’t work for a government body or Mainland Constructions that actually wants this to happen! Furthermore the government keeps trying to persuade us with offers and promises that we all know will not work. Burnette (lovely lady) was saying to me how she had some government officials offer her money so she would move her pizzeria in to the amusement park offering some great possibilities. The Scum!

Has anyone actually thought of the consequences of this park? Mariote is already overpopulated with tourists. The amount of buildings (disgusting prefab buildings at best) that have gone up is bad. But if this amusement park goes up, there will lots of hotels built just for catering them.  And not too mention the destruction of this town’s most valuable piece of heritage. The park! Sure, some redwoods won’t feel the pain of going to a lumber yard. But all the native animals will. That’s one of the things that make this place, this place. The animals.

I should let you know what is happening on the tourist front too. Their population has died down as most have left, but the amount of trash the leave behind is astounding. I do my bit, I bin it. But the tourists don’t! All I can say is “Grrrr”, and that isn’t even a word!

Just a Note

I’ve got back an email from my delusional nephew on how all this “blogging” I believe is the term works.  So I’m going to try to get some before and after pictures of Mariote to prove visually how it has changed. And he also showed me how to use categories. What do you think of it?

  • Updates are my lengthy blogs and…
  • Smidgens (Spelt write?) are the minute blogs.

Oh and I may not of mentioned it but I am going to try to blog once a week. As if that’ll happen…

Expose the Truth

Gahhhhhh….Don’t you just love Italy, NOT!I mean sure its beautiful, lots of great tasting food and lovely surroundings. You might have been here, you may have not. Well I live here. And I live in a little town called Mariote. My family and I joke of it as Mario Tea. Anyways I moved here for the sole intention of finishing my life in a quiet peaceful place. Now back to the “Don’t you just love Italy” part. It used to be good. When I vacationed over here in the late nineties, it was calm, relaxing and Burnette’s pizza gallery made the nicest pizza I’d ever had. But that may have been because, let’s face it, Michigan (where I used to live) don’t specialise in pizza. But now for no apparent reason at all, there has been a massive influx of tourists.“Get off my front Hedge!”

Sorry, I wrote what I was yelling at the stupid tourists who keep leaning on my hedge. I wouldn’t usually care except the amounts of tourist that lean on it are killing them. And Gardening is my life (I was a Landscape Architect back in Michigan).

Anyway with the massive influx of tourist the once beautiful town has grown exponentially and lost its beauty. The scenery is still there but only if you block out all the cheap buildings that are going up just to cater for the tourists.

I think I’ve had enough writing about me, I mean just look at the time… Crap… I almost forgot my show (Yes, we do have TV in Mariote).
